(#192) Pizza and apple Jack O'lantern

We had pizza again for dinner upon the boy's request. And so I prepared some leftovers for tomorrow's bento.
I try to keep up with the theme by adding some jack O'Lantern made out of carrots and apple, um and also some Swiss cheese lil ghosts :P

Next to the pizza are some steamed broccoli, sweet corn in a cob, plums and apple Jack O'Lantern.

Oh, almost forgot to mention they are 2 different pizzas, for D is turkey pepperoni and the other one for B is vegetable pizza.

Y'all have a wonderful weekend and see you next week!!

(#191) Graveyard rice and chicken Bento

I went grocery shopping and got the boys a haircut and just got home like after seven, so we're having late dinner and I am like rushing preparing bento for tomorrow... so blank for ideas and could not think of something else. This is the best I can come up with ... a graveyard bento along with some tomb stones with RIP and BOOs letter out of spaghetti alphabets.

Inside the box are BBQ chicken Indonesian style, steamed broccoli, cucumbers and carrots.
Jasmine rice topped with some tombstones made out of turkey spam and broccoli tree and also a nori flying bat.

And here's another picture :

Have a great Wed everyone!!

(#190) Mm ..Mm..Mm.. Mummyyyy bento

I had dental appointment today and feel so numb afterwards but then once the numbness disappears the pain starts to kick in. Definitely do not feel like to spend so much time in the kitchen.
Good thing I already prepared a mini pizza earlier during the day. My kids love pizza so much they would eat it cold too ..LOL

I tried to arrange the cheese so it would look like a mummy, well it does until I quick broil it then the cheese starts to melt and I am not sure if it even looks like mummy anymore ...

Next to the pizza mummy are some plums along with steamed broccoli, carrot, and grape tomato in a black musical food picks.
Here's the close up look of the mummy face :

And as always I make 2 identical bentos, here are the pictures :

I have 3 more chances to make Halloween bento until Monday.... I hope I can keep up with the theme ..

(#189) Sandwich and salmon burger bento

I am honestly not too happy with the result of the bento I prepared for tomorrow.
I don't know why but I was so blank with ideas ... anyway ...I am still posting it here :P

This one is for B who is entering elementary this fall ^__^
Inside the box are some peanut butter and honey sandwiches, I cut the bread using a black cat cookie cutter.I know it did not appear as spooky as I expected :P
Next to the mini sandwiches are some cucumbers, steamed broccoli, carrots and sweet corn topped with carrot Jack O'Lantern and some red plums.
Oh .. there are also some Swiss cheese smiling lil ghosts on top of the broccoli ...

Now for big SON, since he has peanut allergy I prepared some salmon burger, he could not be more happier!! I know he loves salmon so much!!
However, since I did not have any burger buns (we rarely eat burger, that's why) so I use the edge crust of the brown bread, I asked him if it is okay and he is smiling then replied to me "well you always said the healthy part of the bread is the crust!!" .... smart boy!! am so pleased with him.
I tried to make the bread like Jack O'Lantern and have the broccoli as a stem ..but looking at the result I am like not so sure .. LOL
Anyway ... the rest are the same with bento for B.

Okay ... have a blessing Monday everyone!

(#188) Ghost sandwiches & mini bell pepper Jack O'lantern

Okay .. where should I start on this ...
I guess I can start with our grocery trip yesterday, just a regular weekly trip to buy some vegetables, milk and bread for the week.
And guess what, when I was picking some sweet potatoes, my eyes spotted a lil cute tiny sweet bell pepper. Then I instantly remember Sheri ... she posted her cute bell pepper O'Lantern some times last week.
And I was thinking .... OMG!! I can't believe I am going to make the same thing!! when I saw her post I was like so positive I'd never find those cute tiny bell peppers here! but I was wrong :P ...and I am so excited to found it here at our regular store. I know Sheri got her's at the farmer's market. Don't get me wrong, I love farmers market, but we don't go there all the time.
Funny thing is that I only saw ONE mini bell pepper sitting on top of large or regular sizes!! so I dag trough and trough,... lucky me I found another one but has no stem, but I got it anyway and still excited about it ... lucky me!!
I hope I did a good job carving these tiny bell peppers ^__^

Inside the box are honey sandwich for B and turkey sandwich for big SON. I cut the bread using a bell shape cookie cutter.
I stuffed the pepper with some cream cheese, next to it are some steamed broccoli, carrots and cucumbers, and grape tomato. I packed the fruit separately (not pictured)
Here's the closer look :

As I mentioned earlier one of the pepper has no stem in it, fortunately the other one has a long stem, so I cut half of the stem then attached it to the one with no stem with a help of a tooth pick, can you guess it? I think I did a good job ..LOL ..

Here are another pictures :

I add extra turkey next to the sandwich.

Hope I can keeping up with a Halloween theme bento for this coming week.

Another quick post to warp up the week, I prepared a very simple Halloween bento for the boys.

Inside the box are some slightly salted grill salmon, rice mixed with grated carrot Jack O'Lantern, cucumbers, carrots, stir fry chayote squash packed in a star silicone cup, and checkered apple.

Hope I can make more Halloween bento next week ^__^ have a great weekend everyone!!

Just a quick post for tomorrow's bento. Simple as always ... featuring some Vietnamese lemon grass chicken and brown rice wrapped in cling wrap with some parsley and carrot just for fun :)
I really could not came up with Halloween theme bento or other characters, it's just too many things going on every night with 3 kids and I do everything my self .. *sigh* .. but I try to do my best.
Ooops!! I hope I do not sound like whining .. LOL

There are also some celery, carrots and cucumbers.

Have a wonderful evening.

(#185) Stir fry rice noodle stars bento

Yesterday evening we were attending a barn dance hosted by school, it was my first time attending such thing and I am tellin ya I'd definitely come again if there's one coming up in the future :P it was hella FUN.
D&B's performance were phenomenal ^__^ too bad there was lack of lights so the pictures did not came out good. And we had to leave early since lil G was so fussy and ready for nite nite.

On the way home we saw the most beautiful moon I've ever seen, it wasn't full or anything but amazingly close, it was like in front of you!!! and the stars oh my gosh!! so beautiful!!! all the time we were like starring at the sky till we got home. What a night!!

So today I prepared a full of twinkling stars bento for big son. I only made one bento since B requested to bring some leftovers spaghetti dinner, so I packed him spaghetti in a thermal bento and did not take any picture.

Inside the box are fried rice noodle with vegetables.
Next to it are sweet corn topped with carrot and cucumber star in the middle which I find out to be a bad choice, the cucumber part is so pale and did not turned out good on the picture :(
There are also some cucumbers, carrots, and honey smoked turkey and sliced of kiwi in a star silicone cup.
Everything fit in lunchbots duo!!

Inside the box : some yellow fried rice in a bee cup, steamed broccoli and carrots, sliced omelet topped with flowered carrots, and last but not least is sliced orange.
I also packed some more fruit for snack (not pictured)

(#181) Bagels and cream cheese

I don't really feel like spending too much time in the kitchen this evening, so for tomorrow's bento I packed the same menu as yesterday. Tuna sandwich for big son and bagels with cream cheese for B.
I did not even bother to take any pictures of the tuna sandwich bento, I actually did not plan to post anything this evening. I guess I am having one of those "do not want to do anything" days ... LOL

However, when I was done preparing bagels with cream cheese for B, I was so lost and do not know what box to be used. I keep digging up my bento boxes collection and found none that is big enough to hold 3 pieces of mini bagels. YES y'all heard it right! 3 pieces!!! He specifically requested me to pack him 3 pieces. Yesterday I was reluctantly packed him 2 pieces, I thought he wont eat em all. I know he loves bagels so much!!

Anyway back to the bento boxes, I then realized I've been having this boxes for a long time (I bought 2 sets), but never had a chance to use it. When I first got it I thought it was way too big.
And I said okay ... I finally got to use this box, and that's why I decided to take some pictures even though it's nothing special inside. I thought it's always good to share it with some of you who might own this kind of box and never got to use it!.
I asked B to practice opening and closing the box so tomorrow he can do it with no problems.

So I put the bagels on the lower bowl.
On the top compartment I arranged some dried apricots, cucumbers, mandarin orange, mixed heirloom tomatoes, and apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon.

What's cool about this box is everything can be packed in one box, no need to pack extra snack box and no lunch bag is necessary. And lets be honest about its design ... so sleek and cool!! don't you think?
I think B is gonna love it!!

And uh!! I'd love to remind all of you my bento pals about Halloween bento set giveaway from ALLTHINGSFORSALE.COM.

(#180) Sandwiches Clown Bento

Up for tomorrow's bento I prepared some simple sandwiches. Tuna sandwich for big son and bagels with cream cheese for B (Am I save to say that bagels are also sandwich?? I hope so!).

I made tuna sandwich with some whole wheat thin sandwich bread, and since its round shape make it perfect for a clown face. I put a cherry tomato for its nose, and carrots and nori for other facial part.
Next to the sandwich are some fresh grapes, tiny pear tomato, yellow carrots and some cucumber. I also packed some thinly slices apple sprinkled with cinnamon for snack (not pictured).

As for B, I prepared some mini whole wheat bagels with cream cheese. I used a black grapes for the nose but the rest of its facial details made out of carrots and nori.
The rest are pretty much same except for some oranges.

Just a quick note for all my bento pals, ALLTHINGSFORSALE.COM is giving away a cute Halloween bento set. You can check about it HERE
GOOD LUCK!!
